In the world of the Five Hundred Kingdoms, some Kingdoms lack a Fairy Godmother, and sometimes Gods fill that void. The word "God" in this case is misleading, as admitted by Hecate in A Tangled Web. She reveals to Leopold that Gods are actually half Fae, half human, hence their strong magical powers. One character who this rule does not seem to apply to is Lily, who serves as the Godmother of Eltaria in The Sleeping Beauty, as she is half Fae and half mortal as well. Whether she chooses to be referred to as a Godmother vs a God is unknown.
